they will lift up so far, then stop.
i was told there is a stop of some sort, that can be gotten to with a small screwdriver?

If you look there should be a plastic square that each rod comes out of . Not sure if it is on the inside or outside but there is a small hole. Use something like an eyeglass screwdriver and push it in to release the lock. Sometimes they are real stubborn and you have to do both sides at once and you almost need a second set of hands to do it. You may also want to leave the headrest down about a click which sometimes makes them easier to release. Good luck

thanks.
figured it out.
i took off the round trim ring, and pressed in on the release, and walla.....turned it around.
long story short.....
better half just picked it up.
one of her pet peeves is that the damn headrests dig in back of her head, so she turns them around.
this was one of the things to be done at the dealer.
they dropped it off, and i noticed it was not turned around?
so i asked why?
they replied, it's part of the restraint system.
if we turn it around, and she get's in a wreck, injured, we could be held (the dealer) liable!
i never knew this???

glad you got it. I work at a dealer and there are all sorts of crazy liability things they have to worry about.
