New Brake Pads? - 12-14-2005, 10:56 AM

My Murano is getting close to needing new front end pads....the factory ones than I have on the car have been great for NOT dusting....but they squeak when cold/ warm.....When I get ready to replace them I want something that will not dust and certainly not squeak.....There is not much worse than stopping and you sound like a train :noexpress

Who has experience with brake pads they are good quality and WILL NOT cost me a months house payment

Happy Holidays and Thanks

EBC GREENSTUFF. a lot of guys on the bimmer forums use these. it gives better braking power than oem pads (bimmers have very good braking by the way) and are known for their little dusting. i have not used them but have always wanted to get them, especially from the reviews a lot of the bimmer dudes give. the extra stopping power accompaning the little to no dust makes it all the more attractive.

EBC GREENSTUFF BRAKE PADS

+1 for ebc greens.
Better braking all around and less dust than the oem ford pads.

I was looking into getting the EBC's but they got terrible reviews on some of the car forums I was reading. I ended up going with Axxis Metal Masters.

My one friend had EBC greenstuff on his eclipse and they wore out really fast, like months. He's not one to ride the brakes or kill them either.

That was the exact complaints I was reading about.

I have Hawk pads on my truck & they work great & compared to the stock brakes I don't get too much break dust. Ran about $65.00 for the front.

You could always get these to help keep brake dust away:

EBC is a good pad but like others said, it wears out pretty fast. Hawk pads are pretty good quality. I personally just get ones from the local autoparts store. I think they are just as good and havent had any probs with them.

Any ceramic pads with a good warranty. They will dust the least and last the longest, but they are hard and will ware the rotors a little more than anything else.

I have the Peformance Friction/Carbon Metallic on my Cav, and there isn't a whole lot of dust to speak of. They stop really well and the only 'down' side is that they sound like they're grinding the very first time or two a step on the pedal. After that not a squeal, grind or groan to be heard.

PS, I use them HARD semi frequently...ie controlled high-speed stops (not panic stops)
