What`s the best vacuum to suck up water / cleaning solution from carpets?

I have the Bissell but it doesn`t suck up water well.

So I plan on misting with water and cleaning solution, scrubbing the carpet and then extract the water with the wet/dry vac?

I`ll go to Sears / Home Depot.

I would assume something with a lot of power.

    Any ideas?

If I were you, I`d look for something powerful AND quiet. My dad has a fairly large one from sears that is fairly large, and it just SCREAMS! But hey, if the noise doesn`t bother you and it being just plain large, it seems pretty good, being the only one I`ve used.

    I have a Milwaukee 8630 that I really like.

Incredible motor and suction, plus it`s quiet. Kind of pricy though (over $300 with the automotive kit), but it`s professional grade.

I really love my Shop Ultra Pump Vac. It is pricey but it is worth it in the long run. Moreover, it is excellent at sucking up water from carpets! 5.5 hp and 11.5 gallons!

Make sure which ever model you chose to turn it on and see how loud it is. I listened to many of them before I settled on mine.

I have one just like it. Love It!!

I replaced the hose and nozzels with one from Griot`s Garage.

I don`t use my vac for water pick-up because I use a carpet extractor. I use the 10 gal bags inside the vac for eazy cleaning.

This is the second vacuum I have owned like this. Good vac!

Careful with that 6.5HP model. I`ve got a Craftsman Wet/Dry with 5HP and it`s almost too much!!! It literally will hold a car mat with no problem and, without the right attachment, pulls up the entire carpet off of the floorboards!!

The nicest part about their wet/dry vacs is all of the optional attachments. I use the "Car" attachment that came with the vac to do the carpets and seats. I bought a brush attachment to do all plastic surfaces, and I bought the micro-tool kit to get in all of the tight bits like on the dash. It`s the best vacuum I`ve ever used for a car!!

It`s awfully nice to have one that converts to a blower.
Dream big and be willing to do the work to get there.
