Forum noob here, however I am a hobbyist detail veteran. I have a problem I was hoping you could all help me with.

I picked up a 2013 Volvo a couple weeks back. Other than the drive home from PA to CT, its been sitting in the garage. The vehicle was sitting at the dealer lot for 6 months outside of course. During this time, it has accumulated a tremendous amount of stubborn stains and dirt on the paint. I`ve been patiently claying for 6 hours and barely finished only the hood. It literally has been taking me about 10 minutes for each 6x6 inch section.

I would post photos, however my DSLR won`t pick them up. I am getting extremely frustrated with how long this has been taking. On top of that, the claying is causing a lot of light scratching, much like a 3000 grit wetsand would leave.

I`m almost about to resort to a "regular" clay with a polish follow up (white pad and Menzerna SIP) and hope they get removed in the polishing process. I of course have some concerns with that though.

    What can I do here?

Probably the best thing you could do is treat it to a bath with the Value Guard decontamination system before claying Valugard - Neutralization System There is a video on their website showing the process which is nothing more than 3 washes and it would probably remove most if not all of the contamination so that you may only need to do a light claying.

    Nick!- Welcome to Autopia!

I too am a big advocate of the ABC. One of the nice things about it is that you can avoid marring things up as compared to aggressive claying.

In one section on the roof, I tried a "normal" clay and a quick pass with the PC with white pad and super finish. Nothing doing.
