I`ve been trying to get some pole paint off my car. I believe the scratches to be only very superficial, but it covers a large area of the door. I was able to rub off most of the paint with water and a towel, but still some seems to remain...

The catch is, when the scratches are wet, they disappear, but reappear when dry. If this is the case, what`s the best solution for me? I`m not able to sand or use any machinery on the car, but was curious as to what the best solution may be.

I can`t believe the paint is damaged if the scratches are invisible when wet!

Pictures would help a lot. If it`s simply paint transfer you can use some lacquer thinner and a microfiber towel. Dab the paint, and should wipe right off. What type of car is it on? I wouldn`t use lacquer thinner on the paint if you don`t have a clearcoat. Post some pics and we can all evaluate better. Best of luck.

If you rub your fingernail on the scratches, does it catch? If not, grab some Meguiars ScratchX and follow the directions. It will be slow going without a machine, but it will work.

Scratches dissappear when the car is wet, bc the water fills them in, and acts as an artificial and perfectly level clearcoat....creating the illusion of a flawless clearcoat.
