My decision is in your hands: PO106FF or Optimum OHC?

Im so on the fence with these two products... either way I need to make an order for one these products on monday to have it here on time!!!!!!!!!!



Situation: 2006 Black Mercedes S430 detail next weekend.



Products already on hand: Megs #83 and #80.. going to use a rotary on the S430.



Last S430 experience: Not so nice with the PC and #83... maybe the rotary will make the difference even if I use the #83?



If the rotary and #83 will work then be honest and tell me if it will work or not on the hard MB clear.. so I dont have to spend $30-$50 for this stuff. I only want to order this stuff if I have to.



So IF I have to.. which one? Ive heard nothing but good about both and it seems the Optimum is looking like the better bargain. :think:

Yeah but people have reported OHC to cut nicely and finish down nice as well... all with foam pad and rotary. Over on AG people have actually recommended OHC over 106FF.. at least in my thread they did.



So you think I should go with 106FF for my situation?

PO106FF is a nice polish. I use po85rd.

That is just because they just want you to buy their stuff, and they don`t carry Menzerna.



Both are very different products...OHC is an agressive, rather slow cutting compound, whereas the 106FF is a mild polish that finishes down better than pretty much anything out there. You definitely can`t use OHC for finishing unless you want the finish to look like crap, so correct with Optimum, finish with Menzerna, and you should be all set.



And in my experience, the Menzerna finishing polishes(106FF and FPII) both finish down better than any product in the Optimum range.

Go for the 106FF, I used it last week to take out 1500grit and wool, the finished with a polishing pad and 106FF. Worked awsome!

I only use optimum polish and or compound. then i chose the best pad for the job. I can use a wool cut pad with the polish and remove most mild scratches and finish it off with a green pad and if it black i then use a blue finishing pad that has 100dpi. keep it simple. one polish one compound one wax. have fun!

OHC is not heavy at all. I have both OC and OHC. OHC takes a little more stuff out.



Example is below; did complete car with 9227 Rotary with white LC pad at 1200 pms. Car has not been washed in 2 years.

Here is using normal OC with same pad and makita @ same rpm.







In my eyes either OC will do fine. Just need right pad and machine. Topped with Jw prime and AJT. But you get the idea.

Never, ever, ever, let 106ff dust or you will be sorry, use plenty of water to keep the dust down. Get a good breathing filter just in case for added protection.



I don`t think optimum has the harmful dust problems of 106ff.

sounds like optimum is the way to go . . . Yet I wonder how effective it will be on that super hard ceramiclear paint . . . the menzerna is designed for that hard beast . . .

But, Optimum has never let me down, and it is practicaly dustless. . .

I think that Optimum would be a good product for the uber-hard paint because of it`s long working time and no dust. Works forever, so you can remove a lot of defects without having to reload the polish that much.

OHC is not heavy at all. I have both OC and OHC. OHC takes a little more stuff out.

Dont know what those pictures show or dont show But I find that if you need to do serious correction Hi-Temp Extreme Cut is the way to go mixed with a little OP.



Then use P0106FF or something similar for a final polish

I vote for the 106ff, it`s not cheap but its got the best cut -> finish i`ve seen so far. I highly doubt that you are going to be able to go OHC -> wax on black paint, even if it`s rock hard. The 106ff is going to set you back a few bucks, but if it saves you a polishing step it`ll save you money in the long run.
