Pontoon Cleaning

I am looking to clean the pontoons on a boat.
Not looking for anything fancy,no polishing.
Just something to clean the aluminum to a satin
finish.I have used a cleaner to remove the water
mark but it could use a little more aggressiveness
to make it look better. Thanks

When you say you don't want to polish are you referring to Machine Polishing?

Could I at least talk you into a Hand Polish?

might try a very soft wire wheel on a elec drill or go the chemical cleaner route and use acid based wheel cleaner

you can also use APC and let it dwell ... power wash it off and it will be as you want it

Pete, I'm tryin to get a mental of what you are descrbing

Sure I know what "Tha Floats" on a Pontoon Boat looks like but are they already a Polished Metal or have they maybe dulled out a bit and your just lookin for an even finish?

If this is the case try using full strenth APC...If that is not flattened out enough. Maybe hit it with a acid based wheel cleaner(Diluted)

Either way you need a Hose close by as you don't want either product dryin on surface as it will leave streaks

It is not everyday that I get a request to make something look duller. But I hear what you are sayin about Polishing them out as 75% of the floats are under water anyway.Plus this would be quite a chore (I would rather spend the time on the water then polishing)

Maybe you could find a Teenager or someone out of work that would polish them for $20-$25 per float

I sold boats for almost twenty years and every dealer used it, good stuff.

I helped a guy do his pontoons and we started out with some stuff called "Shark hide" ? It sucked. I had almost no clue how to go about this project so I suggested what I use at home .....Cameo stainless steel and aluminum cleaner. It worked like a million bucks ! Much faster and way more uniform. I don't know if it's the proper way but we were both happy with the final results.
