2006 Harley Electra Glide Classic - 03-21-2007, 12:59 PM

I did a little polishing on my dad's Harley this morning and decided to take some pictures. As the title says it is a 2006 Harley Davidison Electra Glide Classic. He bought it as a dealer demo that has about $2,000 worth of extras of chrome on it. It looked great from the dealer but somehow over time swirls began to appear. The HD Glaze has tons of filler in it and that is what the dealer had on it when he bought it. I polished the saddle bags over the winter and found that this is very nice but very soft paint. I can almost look at it wrong and a swirl mark will appar. So the polishing is a bit difficult. On the bags I applied one coat of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant, one coat of Pinnacle Liquid Souveran, and spit shine Natty's blue with OCW atop of all of that. This is what the rest of the bike is going to get in the future.

Today I just used SSR1 and a polishing pad on the PC. This left some slight marring here and there which I'll tackle by hand over the next few days. SSR1 is a great finishing polish but this just shows how soft the paint is. Onto the pictures:

Fairing and front fender before:

Fairing After:

Front fender after (still need hand polishing in hard to reach areas)

Tank After

Tour Pack before:

Tour Pack after

Whole bike- remember just polished with SSR1 only

Like I said I'll be adding the Wolfgang and the other waxes over the next few days and once the snow is gone I'll get some good outside pictures of the bike. Soory the quality is pretty bad in the pics but I think you get the idea

Great job! The reflection off of that front fender is amazing.

Nice bike Most bikes i've worked on it was all by hand, I would think the pads for the PC would be too big

All of the above ... close up... pics were done with the PC and 7.5" pads. The saddle bags come off which made it easy PC work as well. All of the tight spots like ontop of the tour pack underneath the rack, the back of the front fender, the paint under the seat and all tiny lips were done by hand. I applied the Liquid Souveran today and boy oh boy it looks good. The chome got a coat of wheel sealant as well.
