Question PC backing plate size - 08-23-2004, 08:26 AM

I was snooping around a local flea market looking for a PC when I came across a PC 7336. It was used (obviously has been used for sanding), and came with the vaccum attachment to suck up sawdust, as well as a velcro backing plate. The guy wanted $87 for it, but I got it down to $70! SWEET!! My first PC for well under $100.

I plan on buying pads this week so I can use my new toy this weekend. However, when I measured the backing plate to see if it was 5" or 6", it measured 5 5/8". Is this some sort of non-standard backing plate, or ar the 5" and 6" backing plates not exactly 5" or 6"? I just want to make sure before ordering anything.

I would imagine that's the 6" backing plate.

I don't believe in grit guards.

Maybe a pic will better show what I mean. Sorry it's so dark!

Also, how do I get that sanding vaccum attachment off (you can see part of it sticking out on the left hand side if the backing plate)? The tool didn't come with and wrenches or anything. :dunno
