Before & Afters of my Dad's truck

This truck is a 93 T100, NEVER vacummed and washed whenever I can get to it. The outside is in fair condition with several scuffs in the usual places.

The inside was really a mess. I started by cleaning all the dash and vinyl with an APC from costco. I used an assortment of brushes and got everything as clean as possible. I then dressed with some 3M refresh which I bought at the $ store. :-p

For the carpet I vacummed it, then treated the stains with the APC, then used an oxi-clean solution to further breakdown the stains, then I extracted with the LGCM.

The engine has never been cleaned that I know of.

I used an EZ detail brush with ample amounts of degreaser. I then used carwash soap and various mitts and brushes to wash everything in sight.

I followed up with meguiars #40 cut 50/50 with water. The engine could have used another hour, but I didn't have it.

Now for the paint. It threatened to rain all day and conditions were variable ALL day long. These pictures are not meant to be directly comparable as before and afters, the conditions were just too bad for that.

The paint really needed a cleaner first, something like PP or MPPC would have been ideal and would have allowed the SSR2.5 to work much more efficiently. With time being of the essence, I had to go with ONLY SSR2.5. I applied it with the PC @ 5.5 with a yellow megs polishing pad. On the hood I did use the rotary in spots just to play with the product. Much better via rotary for those who plan on trying both.

Here you can see that the SSR2.5 did a nice job of restoring clarity to the hood. You should be able to see the line through the middle.











Again, I apologize for the exterior B&A's. I gave up about half way trying to get them to be accurate. The conditions were just not right. I hope you can still see that the 2.5 did the job quite well. Most importantly my Dad was happy!

Great job! Truck looks very impressive. My favorite is the shot with half the hood done with ssr2.5. It really shows what a big difference the product can make.

Thanks Dean! Yep, I actually find myself excited to get started on details like this. I was a bit antsy last night. Am I normal?

These types of details can be fun, but I still like the cars with 5,000 miles on them!!!!!

Thats how my dads usually keeps his truck. You did a superb job!. It also makes you more happy when your dad is happy. Nice work.

I am definitely the odd man out in the family when it comes to keeping a car detailed.

Zesty, it was a polishing pad. I feel that SSR2.5 when worked properly does not need to be followed by a finer polish . The key IMO is to work it until it disappears. With the PC working small sections is the way to go.

Would the overall appearance been better if I followed with SSR!? Probably, but the detail that I was performing and the time constraints at hand, the 2.5 left a satisfactory finish ready for sealing.
