can you apply pbs natty over xmt glaze - 03-03-2010, 07:50 AM

hey guys have a few questions, my fiance just bought a 2005 scion tc and the paints in very ruff shape looks like they dry buffed it. swirls, webs, holos all over. she wants me to detail it this sprin i do my g35 every 2 weeks and she likes how clean and shiney and wet looking my car is. so my question is im fairly new to the pc7424 ive been practising. but the question i have is since the paint is in ruff shape can i go with first claying the car and on to a polishing rubbing compound by turtle wax or go with Menzerna Power Gloss Compound followed by the xmt swirl remover line, then apply the xmt glaze. also can i apply the nattys blue wax over the glaze. any help would be greatly apprciated. as im sure ill have more questions ill get pix of it this weekend to show you guys what ill be working with

The process is to clay, polish check you work to see if you've removed all the swirls you want removed. Then glaze and top that off with paste wax or a sealant.

What is your opinion of the TW Rubbing Compound? That's one product that doesn't get discussed here too often. There are a lot of products that would seem to be easier to work with.

Always start with the least aggressive polish and if that don't work then step up to something more aggressive.

Always do a spot test if it don't get the results that you want change procedure and check it again.

I have never used the TW rubbing compound but the word rubbing compound sounds too harsh to me, I'm sure the scratches can be removed without resorting to that.

Post some pictures so we can see what we are talking about then we can give you better advice.

ok ya becuase the paints def neglated and from what im seeing i have two options use a lc yellow pad with the mxt swirl remover number 2 which is all i have and then use the swirl remover #1 or use the tw polishing rubing compound then follow with the xmt swirl removers but i will post pix this sat. becuase im new to geting massive swirls out and i want 98% of them out for her so it can actully refelct instead of showing a whole bunch of massive swirls

Some others can help you with that combo, I do not own and have never used a LC yellow pad so have no idea how it works.

When I repainted a fender that got damaged on my Corvette I wet sanded with 1500 then polished out the sanding marks with a LC Orange with Megs. M83 that is a much milder combo than what you are talking about.
Too aggressive will leave the surface needing a milder polish the goal should be to get the best gloss WITHOUT removing more clear coat than necessary.
