trim exterior dressing issue!!!

Can someone tell me why this keeps happening.
I need to find a dressing that wont do this to the exterior plastics.. it looks horrible.. this is my car but I don’t want this happening to my customers too.
At first I was using the product below.

and that left streaks
next I used a recommendation from my chemical supplier to use meguiars solvent based tire dressing for the exterior plastic.

And the pics below are the result of the of the solvent based dressing.
Someone please help me out with this.

First off the plastic has sun damage and no spray and dry product will work. There are a lot of different products out there and they all work to some extent. Everybody has their favorites, what is important is that apply the product and the reapply. With plastic such as yours it is important that the product be applied with a sponge and allowed to soak in. Wipe off the excess then reapply. It may take 2, 3 , or 4 applications of the product to fix the damage. Once the damage is covered up then regular applications will keep it looking good.

well that just sucks.. now i just created several more steps to my detailing process.. sure i can do that to my work truck but when im done with a clients car im not going to go back the next day to reapply

It does add a few extra steps, but you can work it into your routine and for those vehicles which require the extra steps (time) just factor that into your quote.

Clean the material well. That will mean at least one extra step after the initial wash. Re-wash the trim pieces with a diluted APC solution. With textured trim as shown in your photos, use a soft bristled brush to reach all of the surface. You can even go an extra step, if necessary, by wiping down the trim with IPA. Dry the area and then apply your first trim product application. Now go forward with your polishing and waxing. Keeping an eye on the trim, if it appears to dry up then go ahead with another application. As your detail comes to an end, buff the trim and apply either your second or third application.

Multiple applications is essential dealing with neglected trim (as has been mentioned already )

Use a trim restoring product not a solvent based tire dressing. You want one that will dry to the touch.

I hate recommending products because it's too easily seen as promoting them.

Agreed!! Inquiring minds want to know. Granted it may seem that you are promoting a product, but everyone does in one way or another. Just because someone gets good results with one product or method doesn't mean everyone will. That is understood on this board.

Heck I know what I use and that is Poorboy's trim restore. If that doesn't do the job then I use Forever Black as a last resolve. Granted not everyone has luck with those products and on certain vehicles/occasions neither do I so I go to something else if I have to. Just my 2 cents.

IMHO Troy did it since he owns the forum and has multiple sponsors with different product lines.

I think you called it.
When you own the site your recommendation is often considered product promotion.
I'm not sure about the effect a sponsor has since Auto Geek seems to carry almost every line available.

Well gezzzzzI got ridiculed from some of you guys before when I said what I used so I sent a PM to the dude......not to make people mad.

But since your all inquisitive about what I use, I suggested Trim Care from a company called Rubber Seal, out of Ohio. I have used this product for 10 years with great success. It does not contain silicone, so if you paint in your shop (which I do) you won't have to worry with fish eyes. , you can use it on rubber, black trim,plastic etc. It has that factory finish look...just the right sheen .( I like it) It is also great for making that wax disappear that accidentally got on the plastic grain and dried;Everyone knows what a pain that is to remedy.
