new twist to conventional wash - 12-17-2009, 01:44 PM

Today I washed my explorer and I washed the wheels and tires & fender Wells with a combo of dawn and APC after rinsing with hose I sprayed the entire body then washed it with Duragloss Rinse-less wash but used the hose to rinse instead of wiping.
Since I had the hose out already and the floor was wet I thought why not save dirtying all those towels.
The DG was super slick and made real good wash solution and when rinsed with water you could tell it was still their the polymers were beading like crazy.
Car did not dry as fast as a normal soap so I did not need to hurry to get it dry before it water spotted.
After wiping it was clear that it had left something behind because of the gloss.

I think I will try this method again it is better than using soap for a conventional wash.

I wonder how S&W or S&G would work using that type application...

I have used that combo many times but only in the summer time when car is not dirty.
S&W is a totally different product. NO WATER REQUIRED

The advantage to what I did over soap is it leaves polymers behind even after rinsing and it leaves a nice gloss plus their is no rush to dry to prevent water spots.

You could do the same thing with DP rinse less wash in fact I have always added DP to my soap bucket makes my hard water work much better.

I believe other have done the same. I am sure that it leaves something to the paint. Polymers are good.

How does this compare to wash solutions that claim to have wax?

I am interested in the comment about the car drying slower. I am pretty sure I have used the product but I know i have used similar wash products and never noticed the slower drying times. As slow as I am moving these days it might be something that I would employ. That is as soon as I decide to get off my butt and do a detail.

What I was using is not yet available for retail sales it is a beta version by Duragloss but you could use DP rinse less wash.
For the past couple years when I washed with soap bucket and hose I always added DP to my soap with the hard water that I have it really helps.
