1Z Washer Fluid Damage? - 01-18-2009, 12:12 PM

I just spent a lot of money fixing something that may have occurred as a result of using 1Z Kristall Klar Washer Fluid. I have only anecdotal evidence so I'm posting this to see if anyone else has had problems.

I mixed the concentrate per instructions and I emptied out the existing fluid. I used it for a couple of months and noticed that when I pumped it out it created a lot of bubbles or foam. Not long ago I topped off the reservoir and it foamed/ bubbled a lot when I poured the mixture in the tank.

Shortly after filling the tank the washer fluid began to foam at the nozzles instead of squirting out. It rapidly stopped pumping out at all. I took the car to the shop and they said the hoses and nozzles were clogged up. It had to be flushed out and the nozzles still don't work as well as before. I didn't want to pay the money for new nozzles.

I don't know for certain that the 1Z product caused the damage but I'm sure not going to try it again or on any of my other cars. Has anyone else experienced such a problem?

Anyone want the 90% full bottle I have?

Contact the manufacturer or the vendor where you got it from, and see what they say about this. By the looks it's the 1Z that cause the problem IMO

I know it has been around for a while and this is the first time I have heard of this.
Is it possible that you got a bad batch?

Chemical reaction between the 1Z and something in the washer system causing it to foam and/or condense causing a blockage. Doubt it is just the 1Z that was the cause. What fluid did you use before 1Z?

Russ, that may indeed be the reason. I don't want to make a rant about 1Z as other products I have tried have been very good.

Prior to the 1Z I used an OTC product made by Prestone. I did flush out as much as I could and I used 1Z successfully for a couple of months. The blockage happened after I refilled the reservoir.

That's odd that it happened after the refill. How did you go about cleaning the system?
