Car Show Prep - 06-05-2008, 04:55 PM

Next weekend is Super Stang Fest in Rockingham, NC so I need to start doing a little detailing each evening in order to get the Mach 1 ready for the show. I am not going there to win, but just have a good time and get the car dynotuned. My Mach 1 is a daily driver so it's really hard to compete with the garage kept and trailer-queen Mach 1's. Anyways, I plan detail as much of the car as I can on Sunday then just try to keep it clean through the week. Today I picked up some Meguiars Show Car Glaze. Where in the sequence do I use this stuff? After polish or after waxing? I'm trying out some new OTC products just to try something new. My process will be (please correct squence to accomodate the Show Car Glaze):

-Wash
-3M Scratch Remover where needed via High-speed with light cutting pad
-3M Cleaner Polish/Wax via PC and polishing pad
-3M Performance Finish via PC and finishing pad
-Meguiars Show Car Glaze via PC and finishing pad

Should I wait until the night before the show to use the Show Car Glaze?

All help is appreciated. Thanks

Show car glaze is used before the final wax, somethimes with no wax at all on a show car. If you already waxed ,its to late.. You may get a streaky mess if you put the glaze over wax. But then again maybe not tried if you want.

Just my opinion, but 3M's Machine Glaze (for dark cars) does a mighty fine jop with a DA (PC?) and a finishing pad & if followed up with 3M's Imperial Hand Glaze, although a lil' more costly than Megs, is a lot more user friendly yeilding better results. Also, it's my opinion that it's either wax, or glaze not both -- the final finish tends to look a lil' oiley or streaky when they are combined.

As for the glaze -- the night before, yes; the day of, yes; two days before, yes. The more lite layers the better. Spread a little bit out with a soft towel (diaper, MF, whatever is your prefrence) then before it fully dries buff it off with another. Overlap sections, do the whole Mach 1 as if it was a fine woman (or man - don't ask don't tell) you were joyfully massaging. Follow up each session with a MF lightly misted with Megs Final inspection (#34). Post pictures along the way
