Vinyl top care advise needed - 04-29-2008, 09:55 AM

Mom has just had a 1966 ford thunderbird repainted with body work. It has a rough surface vinyl top, which I need to find out what product and methods to use for cleansing and protection of this surface. It just came home from the body shop yesterday so the paint wont get any sealant or wax for 4-6 weeks, shop owner reccommends that long to let paint air out . Id like to stay with products from Poorboys World, but would like to hear what products work and the methods. I have no knowledge on this topic so id like some input. Later on Ill ask about convertible top on 1961 sunliner but its not finished yet. Thanks Guys and Gals. RANDAL recuperating in IOWA

I'd use Trim Restorer applied with a foam paint brush, spread it real thin, let it sit an hour or two and then buff with a thick cotton towel ... being that this car will probably be garaged most of the time, you'll only have to do this once or twice per year

life is short ..do it while you can

For any convertible tops even the landau types I like Ragg Topp cleaners and protection products.

To clean this use a soft plastic brush with either the ragg topp cleaner if you go that way or a APC mixed with water 1 part APC to 10 parts water...wet down, spray with APC, brush lightly, wash off with soapy water and rinse....let it dry and then apply your protection..the ragg topp is a vinln treatment protection product..not just a dressing...or..as Steve stated his TR is another good product that you can use but be sure to buff, that evens it out and makes sure that it doesn't run should it get wet.
