    Windshield Wiper Scratches

    Hey Guys,

I need some help here. There was a storm here the other day; my wiper blade broke and scratched my windshield. I`ve been trying to remove those scratches, but I`m not making any progress. What can I use guys?

There is little that can be done with scratches on glass. I would consult with a good glass shop and see what they say, its my guess that replacement is the solution.

Diamondite has a glass polishing system designed for a rotary buffer, you will need heat to reduce down glass. That said with a windshield I would be concerned about messing up the clarity or distorting the view through the glass.

Also I would be concerned with safety...not the scratches put really bearing down on the wind shield to get a scratch out.

If its really bad I would get it replaced. If you have glass coverage it shouldn`t cost you anything.

You might want to check with your insurance company on the cost before you commit to having it done..
I carry pretty high deductibles on our vehicles and I think a windshield replacement costs me over $250 for the deductible.

FWIW, many used car lots will know where to get a windshield replaced at a reasonable (?) cost.

i used a glass kit and rotary to remove these type scratches in my brother`s 68 mustang with original glass. he wanted to keep the original windshield.
don`t get the glass to hot and keep it wet.
