Looking for a thread (melting and mixing waxes)

Im pretty sure the thread is from another board, but I remember being linked to it from here.

It was a pretty long thread consisting of members who had melted different waxes, mixed them together and experimented with them on paint. Most members posted pictures of the process as well.

If anybody knows which thread im talking about and could link me to it thatd be great

Obviously you are not 100% satisfied with the many really excellent waxes available, but have you considered either Zymol Vintage or their new Solaris?
They seem to be geared towards the more discriminating buyer.

just be careful not to overheat as it could blow up ..just warm it long enough to turn liquid and then remove and let it sit in room temperature to harden

The only melting of wax I have ever heard or seen is my wife with candle wax.my option is I pay good money for my products to these big companies so I expect them to give me what I pay for.Not to mention wax is becoming a thing of the past.

What makes you say that? I know tons of folks who still use a traditional wax. Most of them even read these detailing forums and are pretty up to date on things. There's some waxes that a sealant can't touch in terms of looks, and for those who are after looks wax is and will continue to be a mainstay.

I agree when it comes to appearance wax is best,I just don't have time to be playing mad scientistI normally use collinite,I have also used other brands as well as sealants.I'll leave the wax melting to my wife,it feels GOOD

Seeing as how you use Collinite, wax melting may be in your future if you're using anything in the "old school" cans with small openings.

I had a can of 476S that was about 2/3's gone & I was having a tough time getting the MF applicator loaded up so I put a 12" frying pan one the stove, put the 476S in the middle and warmed it gradually.

Only took a few minutes to melt the remainder of the 476 and I had useable product once it cooled.

Not bad, good idea.I'll remember that one.I guess I need to keep an open mind.I sometimes put a coat of sealant first then a coat of wax or two.When I'm not bussy I try different things.
