    Removing wheel paint

I have a set of GMC aluminum wheels with plastic center caps that have the fake aluminum on them. Some of the wheel area is painted gray and the "GMC" on the centercap is painted red. I want to take all of the clearcoat and paint off the wheels and the center caps, so I can polish them and reclearcoat. Is this possible to do myself with chemicals I can purchase?

Glass bead will do it though it might be tough on the center caps.

I`m really sorry, I re-read your post with my head on this time and see that you`re trying to do this yourself. Well actually you could but it requires a blast cabinet. Most machine shops have one, a few mechanical shops. They`re not even terribly expensive but you do need to have room for one. The glass bead is just the medium they use.
