Product Review: Eagle One Tire Shine...

I`ve been using Meg`s Endurance for about 3 years. It has been my favorite tire dressing. It has always been available at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Advance, AutoZone, etc.

Since the new line of Meg`s products has come out, Endurance has become harder and harder to find, so I thought I`d give EO Tire Shine a try.

My biggest complaint about any tire dressing is SLING!

Here`s my review of Eagle One Tire Shine...

    1. Packaging, dispensing: Very attractive packaging, easy to use, can spray onto a sponge-type tire swipe, or directly on the tire, very narrow spray pattern.

    2. Scent: Pleasing scent, not too strong.

    3. Application: I sprayed it on an EO tire swipe, and applied to each tire, not wiping off any excess (wanted to check for sling)

    4. Longevity: I applied the EO 5 days ago, and still nice and black, semi-gloss appearance. I`ve seen Meg`s Endurance last a month. We`ll see how EO stands up.

    5. Dust Collection: 5 days after application, the tires don`t seem to be collecting any dust, let`s give it another week.

    6. Value: A great value at $5.89 for 24 oz.

    7. Shine / Gloss: I experimented with various techniques to achieve the look that I wanted. If applied thick, the finish is very glossy and wet, but soaks in after a couple hours. I prefer a "satin" finish, in which case I normally wipe the tires with a demoted terry towel after application. Nice satin/semi-gloss look.

    8. SLING ... : Absolutely none. About 15 minutes after applying the dressing, I went for a drive across town and back (hiway speeds). I inspected the lower body panels and I couldn`t find any sling whatsoever.

Summary: I was skeptical at first, because EO is considerably thinner than Meg`s, but I was pleased with the results. Eagle One Tire Shine is very good, and leaves a very nice black rubber appearance. I would recommend it.

,P.S. ... If you`re anything like me, my tires get dressed at LEAST once a week. I can`t go longer than that... it`s like going without food!!!

What is UV protection, in regards to car care products? How is it measured?

U.V. protection isn`t a very well defined thing when it comes to car care
    products.

    Luster: Nice write up.

it is when it comes to tires. the suns u.v. rays are what cause tires to turn brown due to oxidation. tires already come with some sort of i.v. protection in them but if the dressing offers some then better.

    examples of dressings are:

    dp tire gloss gel

    303 aerospace

    adams vrt

i know meguairs hyperdressing doesnt offer u.v protection.

    Thanks for the review.

I`d be interested in knowing what tire brands you`ve used this product on.

I`m currently using it on Michelin Symetrys and Goodyear Wranglers with vastly different results.

It gives a nice shine to the Michelins but doesn`t last long.

It gives a clean but not shiny look to the Goodyears but durability seems better.

I find it to be a messy product. I don`t ususally wear gloves but do with this product. Also, the spray nozzle quit working about halfway through the bottle.
The 80/20 rule applies to detailing.

I have no idea. I sincerely doubt it, especially at that price.

But as often as I clean and dress tires, they would never stand a chance of browning.

I used the product on BFGoodrich Comp T/A Radials, and Uniroyal Tiger Paws, both with good results. Both tires mentioned have very smooth sidewalls, with very little raised or embedded graphics. No sling, nice and black, not too shiney.

I suspect that tires with a lot of raised patterns or graphics, which could trap the dressing would complicate matters though. I`ve found that those types of tires tend to retain the dressing in the crevices and sling like crazy.
